Collaborating to Meet the Needs of ELLs

Level: Intermediate

Description: Through this workshop, participants will learn how to collaborate with their colleagues to enhance the educational opportunities of educating ELLs. This workshop is ideal for teams, teacher pairs, or instructional coaches who need to work collaboratively in planning the instruction and assessment of ELLs. The workshop will focus on co-planning and co-teaching techniques in a variety of settings. Teams will leave with a collaborative focused on the needs of ELLs at their site.

Objectives - Participants will:

  • Implement a variety of co-teaching models for the delivery of instruction of ELLs;
  • Learn about key steps when co-planning for instruction and assessment of ELLs;
  • Use the WIDA ELP standards as a basis for instructional planning for language and academic growth;
  • Learn about different ways to sustain collaboration and problem-solve team issues;
  • Use the knowledge and experience from this workshop to develop a plan for collaboration at their site.
