WIDA held its first Train of Trainers Institute August 20-23 in Madison, WI. We welcomed 25 participants, including consultants and representatives from 10 of our Consortium member states. As we grow and build capacity throughout our member states, it is wonderful to meet and work with the highly qualified professionals who are already working to bring educational equity to English Language Learners in our schools. Without sacrificing the diversity and resources that our participants already possess, our focus was on building consistency across our assessment trainings, standards presentations, and workshops. Overviews of the goals and materials used in the CLIMBS™ course and Data Retreat™ offerings were also shared.

In response to our growing needs for professional development, WIDA has retained six consultants to support trainings and workshops across the consortium. Don Bouchard, Lynore Carnuccio, Shelley Fairbairn, Tammy Marrah, Eva Rogozinski, and Dennis Terdy may be coming to your area to work with your teachers in the future.
