WIDA MODEL™ for Kindergarten assessment

For the 2008-09 academic year, the WIDA Consortium will introduce a new Kindergarten assessment for English language learners, the WIDA Measure of Developing English Language(MODEL)™ Kindergarten box kit. It is designed to be more child-friendly and age-appropriate than the previous generation of tools used for the same purposes.

The MODEL™ box kit will be an optional replacement to the current
W-APT™ identification and placement screener downloadable for free
at www.wida.us. The free version will remain available, but the MODEL™ box kit will also be available for purchase in fall 2008 at an introductory consortium rate of $130 for one set of test administrator materials and 25 student response booklets. For $180, the kit contains two sets of test administrator materials and 50 student response booklets. This reflects a savings of $100 off of the non-consortium rate. The test administrator materials will be reusable and replacement parts will be sold separately.

The WIDA ACCESS Placement Test (W-APT)™ for Non-Consortium member and International Schools

This assessment was designed as a placement test to be used as (1) one of several criteria to determine eligibility for language support services, and (2) an indicator of a student's language proficiency level (from 1 through 6) on the WIDA continuum as an aid to determining type and extent of language support services.

WIDA invites you to consider using the W-APT™ for identification and placement purposes for your grades 1-12 English language learners. The cost depends on which forms you order and the size of your ELL population, so please review our W-APT™ pricing menu.
